As we near the end of the year, we are taking some time in each of our newsletters to talk about and demonstrate how Montreat Conference Center’s ministry is supported by gifts from individuals, families, churches, and other organizations. When a congregation decides to make a gift of $500 or more to the Montreat Fund annually, we honor their commitment to our mission by recognizing them as a Church Patron. This special giving tier unites churches as they help to ensure that Montreat remains a place of spiritual transformation and renewal for generations to come.
So, why do churches become Church Patrons? At its heart, this partnership reflects a shared commitment to Christian discipleship. When a congregation becomes a Church Patron, it joins a network of over 200 churches from more than 25 states that have already stepped forward to invest in Montreat’s work. Together, these gifts act as a declaration that Montreat is essential to the life of the wider church.
Support from Church Patrons directly strengthens Montreat’s ability to offer life-changing experiences across its broad range of programs. The Montreat Fund underwrites essential components of Montreat’s ministry, from thoughtful speakers and worship leaders at conferences to recreational offerings that connect guests with creation and one another. Gifts to this fund also support the upkeep of facilities where countless faithful memories are made each year. In a world where congregations face tightening budgets and shifting ministry landscapes, partnering with Montreat as a Church Patron is a tangible way to expand a church’s impact to the broader faith community.

Participating congregations are celebrated and recognized in ways that honor their commitment. Montreat publicly acknowledges Church Patrons through listings in lodges and facilities, displays in central spaces such as Anderson Auditorium and Assembly Inn, and on the Montreat website. These recognitions celebrate congregational support while inspiring others to join in this shared ministry.
Becoming a Church Patron is simple, and churches of all sizes and from all regions are invited to participate. If your congregation values Montreat’s role in spiritual formation, faith development for youth, or renewal for pastors and other church staff, consider making your gift today. Gifts can be made easily online, or, if you prefer to make a gift by check, security transfer, or through your IRA, you can find out more about various ways to give by clicking here.
No matter how you choose to support Montreat, we give thanks for the ways you enrich our ministry!
